MIC Orlando

My very first Military Influencer Conference (2018)

Everything you read, see, hear, or buy that is military related, is created by us, the Military Influencer. We set the tone for the Military culture. We are the creators of movements, the voices of reason, and the innovators who have cultivated a generation of doers. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Military Influencer Conference. Here's my spiel, the good, the bad, and the Curtez.

Location, Location, Location.

The Military Influencer Conference (MIC), was held this year in Orlando, Florida. A great destination location, not only for attendees, but for families as well. The Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel was beautiful, inviting, and their customer service was second to none. From the Tennis Courts, to the Spa, the luxurious ambiance was astounding! Universal City Walk was less than a 15 minute drive from the site and offers attractions for your entire family! The weather and the views couldn't be more perfect!

Are you a Very Important Person?

I chose a VIP ticket for this conference because this was my first year attending and I wanted to experience all that the conference had to offer. Was it a great choice? I think so. There were events that were exclusive to VIP members. The VIP Welcome Reception Sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal was amazing! It was hosted at Margaritaville on Universal City Walk in Orlando. Imagine being in a room with some of the most powerful influencers in the industry, and having access to all of them! I had the opportunity to meet people that I have worked for as a freelance writer in the past, and people that I'd love to work with in the future.

The Conference.

The conference started off with a bang! Literally, I felt like we were going non stop. It was exhilarating! The first Workshop, The Art of Storytelling for Influencers by the Fetterman Brothers, founders of The Homefront Foundation, was riveting! We learned about the impact of telling our story, being authentic, how to use it to reach not just your targeted audience, but also those who are unfamiliar with your brand.

At ever turn, there was another workshop, breakout session, or Expo. Oh, The Expo! Let's talk about all the cool brands that not only support our cause but cater to our lifestyle as military members. USAA, Comcast NBCUniversal, Aetna, Nascar, Sam Adams, Street Shares, Lucky Shot, Heroes Vodka, and so many others, contributed resources to help make this event memorable. I left with more swag than I knew what to do with. Seriously, just ask TSA!

The Founder.

Curtez Riggs is the founder of the Military Influencer Conference. He is a Veteran and an entrepreneur whose goal is to foster a community of Military affiliated brands and influencers. In my opinion, this event encompasses all of that. The opportunities to network and collaborate with other powerhouses added an invaluable experience that was unique, to say the least. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this conference. I encourage anyone reading this, to attend the MIC in DC in 2019. You will leave feeling empowered and ready to take on the world! Build, Grow, and Give Back!
